Hi, I see notations where x approaches 2 but the arrow points diagonally upward (/). what does this mean when the arrow is pointing like that instead of pointing horizontally (--)? Thanks.
That's just a different way of writing one-sided limits. I'm sure you're aware of limits the approach from the right (an arrow with a plus raised to the right of it), and limits that approach from the left (arrow with a minus to the right of it).
