International Women's Day: Natassia Dreams on Pornhub

By Pornhub | July 18, 2022

Meet Natassia Dreams: fashion model, adult performer, and activist. In the last year, Natassia has rose to the occasion and used her platform to speak up and be a voice for her community, to lead by example, and share her experiences as a trans woman in the industry.

What sort of misconceptions do you think people still have about female adult performers today?

I think a lot of big misconceptions, still to this day, is that a lot of us are being coerced into doing this and that we have this big person who is bullying us to do this kind work, which is unfortunate and for many of us, not the case. We’re doing this because we want to do it.

Another is that people think women in this industry are all submissive and they do whatever the man wants, and that’s not the case. The women in the industry are not submissive, and many of us are dominant in our personal life.

One way to improve this is for sites like Pornhub to empower women and give them a platform where they can use their voices and express genuine interest for their work and this industry.

On top of all this, do you also deal with other kinds of biases as a trans woman in the industry?

Of course, starting with the way we’re portrayed in porn. The majority of the time, we have to play these roles that are dominating, kind of aggressive, and creepy, and it’s the opposite of how we actually are. There were so many times when I had to portray this false narrative, it’s just not what trans women are all about. Of course there are some trans women who are more dom, but that’s not always the case. Some are feminine and we believe that we are women in our own right. So we want to be treated as such. We have to get rid of this whole construct that men are dominant, women are submissive, and trans are uber-dominant; we have to get rid of these stereotypes.

Why do you think it's important for women to support women and what’s the best way to do that?

I think it’s most important for women to protect women because at the end of the day, we're targeted and seen as a weak species; people try to take advantage of us all the time. So for us women, I think it's great that we stick together because it empowers us. We won’t be seen as such a delicate entities because together, we’re stronger. It’s important we have a network of women we can reach out to, help educate, offer support, give positive affirmations to, and fight these stereotypes with.

Do you celebrate International Women’s Day? And if so, what does it mean it to you?

I usually do celebrate it because I spent a lot of time living in Europe, like in Spain, and they have Dia de la Mujer. Women are beautiful and complex creatures. Just the fact that women menstruate and give birth and bring life into the world is something that needs to be celebrated. I always celebrate the women who are in my life because they are superheroes.

You're a successful adult performer and fashion model. How do you balance the two and what do you accredit your success to?

It's an ongoing battle every day, especially trying to keep them apart from one another. In the end, they both work really well together. With modelling, I became more comfortable because of porn. And with porn, I became more comfortable because of modelling. However, it’s difficult to keep the two worlds separated. Sometimes, in the modelling world, if they know you do porn or any kind of sex work, you risk getting shunned.

Even throughout my career as an adult performer, I’ve always looked for some kind of normalcy in my life because being trans, you’re always being put in the dark, and I’ve never liked to be in the dark. I like to be out and about, I like people to know who I am. So I prefer to have people get to know me first as a person and then find out about my job.

You’ve been quite the activist for social change recently, how did you get started?

I actually got thrown into the activism world by accident because I’m Black and trans and because of my experiences. People started contacting me because I’m accessible and honest, so I decided to use my voice and share my experiences with racism. Especially since I have a good rapport in both industries and have a good following and influence. It also helps that I’m very vocal and I speak six languages.

I want to show strength; I don’t need pity, I need change. I’m trying to find other new Models I can vouch for, train, coach, and join me on this because right now, I feel like there’s a lot of weight on my shoulders.

How do you handle that kind of responsibility, especially since everything changed for you overnight?

I meditate every day and I work out, and that helps a lot. I do have to take breaks sometimes and disconnect; that’s something I’ve recently learned because I had a few burnouts. So now I take personal days when I don’t leave my house and I just replenish everything that I gave out until I’m ready to give more.
