Bisexual Awareness Week 2023 with Colby Jansen

Going on 15 years of bisexual porn!

Colby Jansen has been doing bisexual porn since 2008. In that time, he’s done a variety of scenes, learned a lot about the perception of fans and producers, and takes some time to clear up misconceptions about bisexuals and the bisexual adult industry.

What does Bisexual Awareness Week mean to you as an adult performer?

I think one of the main things that get lost when people think about LGBTQIA2 is the bisexuals. And I like that there is a week dedicated to us where we can express ourselves and show that we can have normal lives, careers, families, and just be all-around good people.

What are misconceptions that people tend to have about you as a bisexual women/man in the industry, and how do you try to change that?

One of the misconceptions that people have about bisexuals in the industry is that they’re either straight for pay or gay for pay. The reality is every porn actor is “for pay,” and when you can do scenes with cis gender males and females, transmen and transwomen, that makes you a better performer and easier to work with.

Tell us something most people are surprised to learn about you as a bisexual performer.

Well, I’ve been doing this stuff since 2008, so I don’t know if there’s all that much that surprises people anymore. But I do know that when my fans see some of the videos where I’m submissive to women and Dommes with strap-ons, that can come as a surprise... but only if they haven’t been paying attention!

Do you feel bisexuality has become fetishized over the years? Does this affect your work, and in what way?

Bisexuality has always been fetishized because everybody that isn’t bisexual assumes that you’re fucking everyone. Frankly, I don’t think that being bisexual now has affected any of my work because as a performer, I have way more freedom to do what I want when I want with whom I want. But in the past, the straight companies would never hire men who perform with men. There was a stigma on us. But with that said, I do believe the industry is in a better place and is truly embracing not just female performers and trans performers who are bisexual, but also men who are bi/men who have sex with men.

Is there more of a stigma in the adult industry surrounding bisexual men vs women? How are bisexual men and women viewed differently?

There is not just a stigma on bisexual men in the industry. There is a stigma on bisexual men in society, because everybody accepts that two women can kiss or do whatever it is that two lesbians do. The thing is that through my life I have been to bars, nightclubs, festivals, all kinds of things, and it’s never been an issue when two girls might hold hands or kiss, but if two guys did that all hell would break loose.

What advice do you have for other bisexual performers who are new to the industry?

Do the things that you enjoy doing most with whoever you like! However, it is your personality that shines through and regardless of whether you’re with the same sex or different sex, your fans will want to watch you and that’s what they’re signing up for.

Which bisexual model should we all have on our radar and why?

Well, I’d say Cole Church is one of the nicest and hottest up-and-coming young guys in the bi porn industry! He is sexy, smart, and is a great performer!

How has the freedom to sexually express your bisexuality informed your confidence?

Well, frankly, when I was coming up in the industry, I started off doing straight porn. If anybody could ever find that I would love to see it! I was young and I didn’t really know what I was doing. The Director ended up getting media consent to go to gay porn, which was not what I had signed up to do, but I gained confidence as my senior contemporaries did well. My contract with Men.com got renewed repeatedly, and now I have a nice following of men and women. My fans have given me the confidence to explore sexual fantasies, ideas, lifestyles, and everything else that I may have been too timid to do if they weren’t so supportive!
